Is Teeth Whitening Possible in One Visit?

Pearly whites lost their luster? Teeth whitening may be an option. If you are thinking of getting your teeth whitened, the first question usually is, “How long does it take to whitened teeth and how many visits to the dentist?” There are a few factors that determine the teeth whitening timeframe. It depends on the state of the teeth, what type of treatment the patient wants and why the teeth are discolored. It also depends on the type of action the dentist endorses, fitting the number of visits to get optimal results into life schedules and the time to have results completed.

How long does it take to whiten teeth?

Understanding the amount of whitening needed is essential. Professional teeth whitening treatment typically takes two to three weeks if a method below is chosen. Home kits can take up to several months. See the breakdown of these options below.

Dentist tray method involves the dentist making a mold or impression of your mouth so the whitening solution can be applied to all teeth. Choosing this type of procedure can be done in the comfort of home. Trays are created, and the solution is sent home with the patient. The amount of solution needed to be applied depends on the amount of staining. This treatment can be 30 minutes to an hour at a time at home and can take several weeks. The ray method lasts from six to 12 months.

If you’re looking for other methods, we recommend an in-office solution, which is generally three 20-minute bleaching treatments. This produces excellent results in a matter of hours. You could even get whitened teeth on your lunch hour! Another big plus is that this treatment can last up to a year.

Personal whitening kits, such as an over-the-counter in-home treatment, can take a month. Kits range from $15-$30. Mouthpieces are worn every night with the solution inside. Unfortunately, the solution can get on your gums, unlike at a dentist office, when a barrier is put around the gum tissue. The solution may also not fully cover the teeth, leaving some areas lightened but still showing stained areas. These kits give you results that last around three to six months.

Decision time

Debating the time to undergo a teeth-whitening treatment in a fast-paced busy world can be challenging. To recap, teeth whitening can take from a lunch hour to a month, based on method of choice and options that fit best your schedule, situation and budget.
